Junior Captain Ellis McAuley
This is the first time a photo has been taken of our three Captains together and meets the Captains view that PGC is a club for everyone, to play and enjoy golf in a wonderful environment and enjoy the social and friendship that golf can bring.
Javid was originally from the North East and joined PGC back in 2014 when he first started to play golf. His Handicap is down to 4, which he is hoping to improve even more during his Captains year. His experience since joining PGC has been so positive to enable him to develop and move forward in a positive manner and he cannot thank the members of the club for their support both in the past and in the coming years ahead. Javid’s Captains Charity is the PGC Junior Section.
Liz Horlacher has been a member of PGC since 2015. She has took a key role as Treasurer of the Ladies Committee and is honoured to follow a family tradition as Lady Captain. Her mother Rene Read had been Lady Captain back in 1995 and sadly passed away last year just before Liz was installed as Captain. Liz plays off 22.3 and her golf has improved rapidly over the past couple of years. Liz’s Captains Charity is Hospice at Home.
Ellis McAuley is 14 years old and a year 10 pupil at Ullswater Community College. He began playing golf at the age of 6 and joined Penrith Golf Club as a ten-year-old. After several coaching sessions, he quickly progressed into the junior team which he enjoyed being part of. He has won numerous junior events at the club and has represented Cumbria on several occasions. His current handicap is 10.1 which he is determined to reduce over the course of the year. When he isn’t playing golf, Ellis plays rugby and football and enjoys working out at the gym. He was delighted to be invited to be Penrith’s Junior captain this year.
