Active, Inclusive and Competitive Golf for All Ages and Abilities
Penrith Golf Club is proud to have one of the most vibrant and inclusive golf communities in Cumbria, with active teams across our Men’s, Ladies’, Seniors’ and Juniors’ sections. Whether you’re a seasoned player looking to compete in leagues, or a beginner looking for support and encouragement, you’ll find a warm welcome and great opportunities to get involved.
Men’s Golf
Our Men’s section is open to golfers of all abilities, from complete beginners to low-handicap competitors. With weekly competitions held every Sunday and regular midweek fixtures on Wednesdays from May to September, there’s always a chance to get out on the course.
We have two Men’s teams competing in the Cumbria Leagues, as well as hosting various open competitions and invitation days. Summer knockouts, singles and pairs events, and a friendly clubhouse atmosphere make this a great section to join.

Ladies’ Golf
Our thriving Ladies’ section is one of the largest in the county. We run weekly competitions on Tuesday mornings, with 9-hole and 18-hole formats to suit all abilities. There are also Sunday tee times for those unable to play midweek.
We currently have four Ladies’ teams playing in County Leagues, and a full calendar of competitions, social events and away days throughout the year. From fun winter formats to County and National qualifiers, there’s something for everyone.
Lady Captain: June Doyle
All new Lady members receive a welcome pack and full support from the committee.
Seniors – Dad’s Army
Known affectionately as Dad’s Army, our Seniors’ Section is one of the biggest in Cumbrian golf, with over 125 members aged 55+. Regular competitions take place every Thursday, with a packed calendar including over 30 events, knockouts, leagues, and home and away matches with prestigious clubs across Northern England and Southern Scotland.
Highlights include the Tantalus Trophy and an annual away day. The ethos? “To promote a happy fellowship of senior golfers” – low-cost, high-fun, and open to all.
Junior Golf
Our award-winning Junior Section is led by a passionate committee and supported by England Golf, the Golf Foundation, and local schools. Juniors enjoy access to an 18-hole course, 9-hole academy course, 3-hole practice area, putting green, chipping zone and a covered driving range.
Weekly group coaching takes place on Monday evenings (April–September) with sessions open to all levels. Our juniors compete in Cumbria Junior League matches and various competitions including the SIXES format and a planned Junior Open in 2025.
Junior Captain 2025: George Parkes
