Item 5-Safeguarding-update
The safeguarding register has now been updated to include recent DBS checks. There are two members of the junior committee who will require safeguarding and protecting children workshops in October and December 2022. Both are aware.
Item 6-Coaching update
Junior Coaching generally progressing well but it would be nice to see juniors spending a little more time on the course outside coaching activities. Opportunities are there given the summer school holiday period. Three of the junior team had received individual coaching to help with their own development.
Isabel Williams had provided a very good input to the juniors on the main golf rules and this had been well received. It is hoped this can be repeated.
Junior Captain’s day has been arranged for Monday 15th August 2022. There will be an 18 hole, 9 hole and 4 hole competition and all juniors very welcome. Tee times commence at 12.30pm. There will be a short presentation at the end. Light refreshments to be made available. Matthew Fearn has kindly provided water for the day. Really important to get the message to all juniors and parents for as many juniors to take part as possible.
An approach had been received from Eden Valley Sports Partnership for the club to again assist with the annual Tri-golf tournament at Penrith Leisure Centre involving local primary schools. It was likely to take place week commencing 28th November 2022 but the date is still to be confirmed. It was agreed that support would be provided in the normal manner by the club.
Coaching to take place in two schools during September/October-North Lakes and Langwathby.
Item 7-Competitions update
Some dates had recently been circulated for junior competitions to all the juniors so it is hoped there will be good participation.
Dates also been arranged for outstanding junior matches. The team had worn the new clothing that had been acquired at the game against Workington (away). Photographs of the team need to be taken at their next home match and placed on club website to promote junior section.
Item 8-Golf Girls Rocks update
This has not proved a success this year and the participation nationally has not been as good as in previous years. Careful consideration to be given to future programmes.
Item 9-Junior AGM 2022
This was provisionally arranged for Friday 21 October at 6.30pm. Item 10-Finance
A very kind donation had been received from Carol Raine wife of the late Keith Raine who had sadly died recently. Keith was a keen supporter of the juniors and Carol has been thanked for this very generous gesture. It was suggested that some junior golf clubs together with bags could be purchased with this donation which would be really valuable to the development of junior golf in the future. Some costings will be obtained before a final decision is taken.
Item 11-Any other matters-None.
Item 12-Date of next meeting.-Wednesday 14 September 2022 at 6.30pm via TEAMS.
