The annual qualifier for the Pga Pro-Captain challenge took place on the 6th June at Pleasington Golf Club near Blackburn. Despite the cool conditions the scoring was as ever low over the superb layout. Mr Captain struggled to hide his nerves on the first tee, but once we were away he stetted and contributed superbly to the team score using his handicap allowance of 3 shots to maximum effect by parring stoke index holes 1-3. Our 43 points equated to a round of 64 against the par of 71. Our final finishing position of tied 3rd just 3 strokes back might have been somewhat better had Tim not slipped on the steps on the 14th tee and hurt his ankle. However our playing partners from the Vale of Llangollen Golf Club who won the event with 46 points were always a step ahead. Our congratulations to them and we wish Matthew and Gary the best of luck in the grand finals.
